Best Bets for Tofu Recipes


Tofu has been one of the favorite sources of protein of vegans and alike. This very versatile soy-based ingredient can fit in any of your meals and even desserts. Whatever way we cook it, its texture always makes a dish extra special. You can’t go wrong with tofu recipes.

Crispy Tofu Bowl

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Yield: Serves 4


  • 14oz extra firm tofu
  • ½ very thinly sliced small red onion
  • ¼ cup red wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 chopped cucumber
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp halved roasted cashew
  • Parsley leaves for garnish
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa

How to Make:

  1. Slice the tofu to ¼ inch thick and press it using a kitchen towel and any heavy object to draw out water. Then soak onion in cold water.
  • Combine red wine vinegar, Thai sweet chili sauce, olive oil, and ¼ teaspoon salt by whisking it together. Pat onions dry and toss with half of vinaigrette and cucumber.
  • Dredge tofu on cornstarch, and fry it in a skillet on medium to high heat. Cook until golden brown then drain on kitchen towel.
  • Put quinoa in a bowl and top it with salad, roasted cashew, tofu, and parsley leaves. Serve and enjoy!

Tofu Pad Thai

Prep Time: 35 minutes

Yield: Serves 4


  • 14oz drained extra firm tofu
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 8oz rice noodles
  • ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp sweet chili sauce
  • Juice of 1 lime, and wedges for serving
  • 1 clove of grated garlic
  • One tbsp oil
  • 1 sliced red pepper
  • 2 cups mung bean sprouts
  • 2 thinly sliced scallions
  • ¼ cup chopped peanuts

How to Make:

  1. Slice tofu into ½ inch thick and press to draw out excess water. Cut into cubes and transfer to bowl with cornstarch.
  • On the other hand, cook noodles as indicated in the packaging.
  • Combine soy sauce, sugar, chili sauce, lime juice and garlic in a bowl.
  • In a wok, heat 1 tablespoon of your above-mentioned sauce at medium heat. Add pepper and cook noodles until tender. Then remove from wok. Cook tofu until golden brown. Then add sauce and noodles to combine. Add in sprouts and scallions and cook for another 2 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
